Upon our return from the short weekend in Door County and the slap in our face weather, we decided it best we complete those projects we'd planned before the snow hits. My husband was at the last week of his surgery recovery and was able to do slightly more in preparation to go back to work at 100%. We knew this could not truly be achieved within his restrictions, but he could start to do more and build up some stamina and wake up those unused muscles. So we started simple.
First accomplishing this chalk board wall which we've wanted to put in the kitchen forever. It was not his best work but I am not complaining as it suits our needs and is perfectly imperfect.
The second was a nearly invisible (except for the framing) plexiglass, wind and snow block on our front porch. There have been times when heavy snows come, that our front door is impossible to open. We are hoping this helps. I'm writing this well after the time we put this up and have had several snowfalls so I can safely say that it works a good deal but not as well as we'd hoped. Our front door is mostly free of snow but the way the wind whips around the houses we still get quite a bit coming in from other directions. For now this is adequate.
