A Place of Comfort - Finishes - Photo Collage

We are not the kind of people who redecorate constantly so it can take us a long time to decide on colors, finishes, etc. for the renovations we do. If we don't love it we don't add it. This creates a timeless space for us. This is a good thing considering we have been working on this house, big and small projects, since we moved in a long time ago. It's the house with projects that never end so we best make good on the projects we do accomplish. Thankfully our tastes don't change too much but they are scattered in all directions so it can sometimes be hard to figure things out and make them work together. When it does come together we're usually happy with the result and keep it forever (or at least for a very long time).

This is the guest room we started around this time in 2013. The hard scape was finished at the end of summer 2014 and furnished shortly there after. Then we got busy and never really started putting the finishing touches on the room.  At some point we discussed putting up a photo collage.  I found a wall cling that said Dream, Believe, Discover that I wanted to build this collage around. It seemed a collage built around photos of the glory of nature, taken on our travels, would be the perfect fit. It is after all how we live, believe and discover our dreams.

Trying to choose photos was the most difficult task followed closely by how we wanted them laid out.  Ultimately I decided to use only the word dream from our clings. Using everything seemed to make it too fussy for our taste. Once we decided on photos and layout I spent a few hours printing, framing and moving things around until we found exactly what we were happy with. Yesterday (Sunday) we finally got everything measured and hung.

Again I remind you I am NOT a photographer (As if that isn't obvious by the terrible glare coming from the side window washing out the color in the above photo. Never mind the fact that it is also very blury). We point and shoot period, and I haven't a clue how to manipulate pictures. What you see is what you get and we like it that way. Thankfully we do have a bit of an eye so we manage to get some really good keepsake photos we're not embarrassed to put on display. This is one display we are quite proud of. I love that this layout leaves us room to grow. We love how it turned out.
