Wisconsin State Parks - Hartman Creek State Park

In all our years of camping I don't believe we've ever visited this little gem in the center of the state.  It's located very near Waupaca and about 30 minutes from Stevens Point. This is where some very good friends live and the reason we visited here.  I'm so glad we did.

The campground itself is quite large with sites consisting of  both private hard wood surrounded areas and open pine wood areas. We had site 47 an ADA site in the open pine wood area near the bathrooms.  The bath/shower house was small but maintained decently (it was hard to tell because the weather was so humid which kept everything wet and sandy). The weekend we were there it was quiet even during the day with the park not quite full but close. The other campers were mostly courteous and friendly as were the rangers. As for the limited number of photos, I'm afraid I don't think to take them when I'm busy making memories, but I did manage a couple just as we were leaving. Better than nothing I suppose.

As I mentioned the weather was less than ideal, warm, but overcast and foggy all day long. Still we were grateful to be without rain and storms which would have made quality outdoor time with our friends more difficult. The weather we had did not stop us from doing anything we wanted to do.

We love that many of our parks have adapted fishing piers. This one was no different. These are perfect piers for our boy to fish. We love that they have railings and holes to hold the fishing poles so he doesn't have to try to navigate that with hands that don't work properly. We found out that they are also perfect for taking young children fishing.

I can tell you that the beach was awesome, probably one of the better we've been to, it was not rocky or mucky like many can be but sandy and soft on the feet. The water was clear with a slow slope to deeper water which ended up being only chest high on me at the ropes. We girls and my son had a good time building sand castles and taking the little one in for her first lake swim while the Dads hiked.

There were many fun things to do, something for everyone. A good time was had by all. We'll be back to this park for sure.
